Horned Toad Signifigance

The Horned Toad (Na’ashǫ́’ii dich’ízhii) has a deep cultural significance in Navajo Culture and is called Cheii (Grandfather) among the Diné people of the Southwest.

Our "Cheii" is known for as a symbol for Protection, Health and Strength. Its horns signify arrowheads that act as a protection for the people. The Horned Toad is also believed to have great spiritual power and close contact with holy people and its songs are used as a power and protection from the dangers of the world.

It is taught that if you see a horned toad, you can pick it up, rub it on your chest, and say "I will be in good health and harmony". Thus our "Cheii" is held in great reverence.

Yá'át'ééh. I am Diné and my clans are Tábąąhí (Waters Edge People born for Tsé Ńjíkiní (Honeycombed Rock People). I grew up in the Salt Lake City, UT area.

I am the owner of The Lucky Cheii. The Horned Toad has always looked cute to me and was the inspriation for an art piece that I created in school. The love I have for where my people come from has always been special to me and I wanted to create something cute for people to wear. Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

Purpose

The Lucky Cheii was created with the purpose of providing cute designs that show my love of my culture. To give people a sense of pride through the products I will created and share.

With College and Sports as a major responsibility, I needed a way to raise money to pay for my future. With tuition, sports fees and the cost of living becoming a real concern for me, I wanted to start a business to earn money for my future and any proceeds earned will be used to pay for my National Volleyball Team Fees and College tuition.
